Bush bashing….

Nana on Jun 4th 2008 11:12 am

Now that Obama has secured the democratic nomination and Hillary is circling her wagons and McCain blindly travels the nation speaking to no one who is listening…I am left with a small sense of pity for our current President Bush…

FILLING DADDY’S SHOES…..

He was pretty much a chip off the old block” when once elected.” Having to step into the shoes of a father who was a former President is a big calling.  After 9/11 I felt that it presented a time for the current President Bush to take charge and show his stuff. Keep in mind, that a sitting President does have some limitations with the senate and especially the congress hanging about his neck…

BREEDING INNER TURMOIL..

But, that explosive episode seemed to only kindle the fires of hate, not just outside our borders but within. There was a national unity that lasted a small moment and since that time it has been downhill and criticized and analyzed by every pundit, democrat and subversive group in the country. Put all that together with a news hierarchy who no longer follow reporting the news but making it and Mr. Bush didn’t have a prayer to walk out of his presidency unscathed…

EITHER SH– OR GET OFF THE POT….

At his lowest popularity rating and with plenty of tongues wagging, I feel he has not been given a fair shake. However, like President Truman said, “the buck stops here,….” and so it does. It would be best remembered that there are alot of party appointed and partician workers that surround Washington DC. Everyone has an opinion, cause to champion or ax to grind. Special interests and lobbyist spend plenty to corrupt the worker bees…

WHATA’ JOKE….

That being said, my biggest complaint concerning government is CONGRESS. Elected by their constituents ,they are perhaps the most ineffective body in public office. Mr. Bush has been saddled with the most venimous, inept, partician go -no- where slobs in the nations. They have failed the general public and the general public is not seeing the forrest for the trees!

I have watched some pretty agonizing moments when President Bush’s butt has been in the hot seat. I have watched him squirm and vocally hestitant and carefully try to choose his words. He is human, mistakes happen. Advice to him has been filtered to create cause and effect. For gosh sake, give the guy a break!!

I can only hope, once he enters the club of past presidents, he will climb his steady horse in Crawford and seek the beautiful sunsets amid the Texas skies. He, at the very least, has earned some peace and quiet from the opinionated, jowl flapping, hanger-ons who blight the nation’s capital.

So, the general public is seeking REAL change…be careful who you choose and elect…

It’s possible that it can go too far!

Making political choices….

Nana on Apr 22nd 2008 10:48 am

Welcome to the Pennsylvania primary and all it pretends to be…my mind reels at the obscene amounts of monies being spent to determine the democratic candidate. In my mind’s eye I keep seeing what this cash could do for our stressed elderly who play Russian roulette with their medications and food supplies. I see the neglected and hungry children living in waste ridden squallor as their parent(s) give in to the highs of drugs. I see people brought to their knees because ill health has taken away their security and any hope of maintaining a dignified way of life. I see every day Americans struggling to fill their cars with gas and having to decide on meager meals in order to make ends meet…and those ends are rarely met these days.

THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL…

If anything the Clinton/Obama primary races have proven to me is that there are many willing to spend the mega bucks to become the political nominee, let alone the elected political forerunner of this party. Obama has outspent Clinton 3 to 1, dumping millions into a state he knows he could not carry….why?

SHARING THE WEALTH…

Had he donated just a tenth of what he spent to a worthy, needy cause….then, perhaps my respect would be elevated. I don’t know much about Obama but I would like to find out his thoughts and feelings concerning the major issues of the day. He has been like a pied piper spewing his classic oratory to the masses….and they seem to be blindly following in his footsteps without trying to find out about the man. I have watched him closely and have been disturbed by his associations and comments that at times seem flip and condescending….when something seems too good to be true ..etc….

SOLVING THE PROBLEMS…

Sure, everyone wants change..republican, democrat and independent. Government is not solving the major issues of the day.It is caught in the quagmire of “too big to eat.” It doesn’t take a genius to figure there is too much government that has become unaccountable to the voting electorate for expenditures and decisions and agencies that vie to spend-spend-spend. Congress and the senate are spinning the wheels of progress and getting no where.

POWER…

I am offended by the vulgar display of power that can be bought for money. Those of us who seek money to maintain a way of life is one thing but those who use it to regulate laws for monetary benefit that does not serve the common good are misusing the power that  money seems to buy…

I want to know how Obama amassed his money warchest…I have a good suspicion how Clinton obtains hers. Both of these candidates have organizers who control the purse strings..who are these decision makers? What is the stories behind the big time contributors and what is their expected payback? Obama seems to have come upon the political scene singing a song of change and reform…America seems more than ready for that…the media spin is weaving a fairytale. Public pandering is running amuck!

A POLITICIAN IS A POLITICIAN…

But as a skeptical ole’ broad I am still left with the feeling that”it take one to know one!” It ’s one thing to put faith in the man/woman but my vote is not bought with superficiality and personality. Being instrumental in electing the leader of the free world is high on my scale of responsibility. Therefore, I had better do my homework and due-diligence..

This year I plan to use alot of hope and prayers as well…

Politics and the races ….

Nana on Mar 21st 2008 08:41 am

It sounds like the road to the democratic convention may be a rocky one and an old fashioned horse race…Just a matter of who slimes who and how often. It surely has had an explosive start with the Obama pastor debacle. There has been a great deal of discussion cncerning Pastor Wright and his tainted views of America. For a preacher man he harbors a goodly amount of hate. I would much rather see him package his negative energy in building up the Kingdom rather than bite the hand that feeds him… regardless he spews forth venom that can demoralize any kind of collective unity and love among all peoples.

TEACH BY EXAMPLE…

There is no doubt that his religious position has seen much good in the black community of Chicago… and more power to those who can rise above his venom and preform goodly act of random kindness to each other. I, however, do question the separatist attitude that exists that can only divide rather than to bring together.

As a regular church goer myself, I have never heard such negative or treasonable remarks from the pulput concerning America. On the contrary, we are a country of laws and as a congregation we are admonished to walk the line and become active in the governmental process as a matter of honor and duty. This is from a church that during the 1830-19oo period withstood some of the worst prejudice and persecution ever exhibited on American soil.

EARNING RESPECT….

Granted, working within the system takes dedication and time…waiting out the prejudices of a uninformed ignorant public takes plenty of time. Patience wears thin and murmuring can become rampant. But, with most discriminate elements of society honor and example should play a prominent role in inititating change and turning the hearts of those sucked down with hate.

ABOVE ALL…HONOR

Grandad’s parent taught school at the Japanese Relocation Camp in Topaz, Utah during WWII. Grandad spent his first 2 years of life at this camp among the displaced Japanese Americans who were gathered up and put away because of fear and prejudice. These people, above all else, exhibited great family honor during the worst of times. This was a time that did not make America shine…it was wrought with great fear and misconceptions. This period in American history is not talked about much…but it happened and will be forever imprinted upon the Japanese Americans who lived it and for generations beyond.

Utmost in Grandad’s mind is the honor the Japanese Americans displayed during this difficult time and the war efforts they put forth by sending their young men to fight for America in WWII. From this experience they have garnered our deepest respect…

MOVE ON….

Those who harbor the generations of resentment with the black American experience should get over it and move on. Frankly, life is hard for us all unless one is born into wealth. Then, again, I have never met a rich man that I would rather be…troubles come to all those who live life! It’s what you make it even in the worst of times….

MORE QUESTIONS, THAN ANSWERS…

It will be interesting to see how Obama will play his walk to the White House. He has Billery/Hillary to contend with who have been raised to play politics the old way. Will Obama stay his course…or will he cave and play dirty? Will he walk his talk? Will he get beyond Reverend Wright and explain himself…who is HE? How liberal is he willing to become? What does he really stand for? I want answers…

Reverend Wright’s rhetoric scares me  and Obama appears to be in the amen corner….I want a President engaged with humanity but also loyal and concerned  for all the citizens that have to support him. He must be decisive when necessary and benevolent and compassionate the next. Above all he must be a leader oft times standing alone among those of  differing views.

Ain’t an easy job and I for one do not aspire to it….makes one wonder why someone would…

Think about that…..real hard!

Politics..strange bedfellows indeed!!!

Nana on Mar 12th 2008 12:29 pm

My…my…ain’t politics filled with enuendo and everyday crap..? Sexual scandals have been around since the world first turned but one would think with eons of past falls from grace that the human genders would realize the public microscope is dangling down upon them. It is just a matter of time when it all become very public..talked about…and chewed on until the tastes go bad!

SPITZER SPLATTERS…

Former New York  governor Spitzer is now calling for forgiveness and once again a national public figure is caught with his pants down and pulling his innocent family down with him. It is the innocent ones who suffer the most…being pushed into public scrutiny brings a mighty burden to carry. Spitzer, for whatever nefarious reasons, is the ultimate selfish man. More power to the wife and daughters should they choose to stick by him. But, I question whether he is worth the effort….

THE FOREVER DOUBLE STANDARD….

Sure, there exists a double standard..but how stupid can someone be to choose a job in public service and expect such sexual plays not to be eventually exposed. There exists a media just waiting to pounce on such a sandalous story and they’ll go to any length to expose it all. So, now we have the democrats once again exposing themselves in public. I laugh at the posturing..the back tracking…and the false indignation that is now coming forth…

WHO’S NEXT…?

Poor sucker…Spitzer just happened to be the one caught for now….who’s next? If nothing more this scandal might help other sexually driven participates to tie a knot in it!!

The real story here is a blind man is now governor of New York and that Hillary has loss a super delegate who is now soarly needed to keep her in the political race…

Wonder if Bill has a comment on this one…?

Political convention free-for-all…?

Nana on Feb 22nd 2008 03:03 pm

From what I hear the Obama- Clinton debate was a mutual admiration society that left most undecided viewers  still /more undecided. I hold onto the idea that it will become an Obama- Clinton ticket…I know Obama wishes to stay away from old time politics but the fact remains he wants to become president and some things in politics do not change even though that has become his campaign’s benchmark. Hillary, on the other hand, seems to see the writing on the mirror..her chances to grab the gold ring have dimmed and deminished…

IT AIN’T HAPPENIN’ IN A DAY….

Since there is a basic two party system strongly entrenched into Washington DC…who ever is elected is NOT going to sweep the cobwebs of the past out in the first week, year or even term. That being said….party politics are alive and well even in the new change dreams of the democrats.

My hat goes off to Obama for not grinding Clinton’s face into her losses…he appears to be a gentleman in some respects. Thing is being different as male and female is just about as different as they become. Through the current debate there was alot of afirmative head bobbing between the two. The audience was left with more questions than answers.

MEDIA SLIME…

In the meantime, the NY times chose to publish a rather undocumented news story concerning the front runner republican John McCain. Timed for whatever reason, this story apparently is old news concerning a lobbyist and a relationship of nine years ago. Reporting the facts ain’t what it used to be… and what can I say, journalism has become a slime industry that give hot shot commentators a bad name…The media today tend to make the news rather than report it. There are hard, fast rules for reporting and it makes me wonder what is being taught in schools nowadays. It gets desparate when a nine year old event become a current new story… isn’t that called history..?

INTERESTING ASPECTS…

What will be interesting with the republicans will be McCain’s choice of vice president. What will be note worthy will be how cunning the democrats become in selecting a sure-win ticket for their side. What will be interesting will be what Huckabee’s motivations have been and where he plans to go with them.

What will be interesting will be the voting public and how willing they will be in placing their future into the hands of the politicans…old and new!

Oh…to have the knowledge and wisdom of our ancestors…!

Get engaged America!

The game of politics…

Nana on Feb 13th 2008 02:15 pm

Politics at best is a fool’s game…it is played by people who scream their virtues(?????) and vast experiences. Somehow the media and game players are going to have to keep the public interest going for the next several months… oh, hummmm…..

I am getting bored already…!

TO THE CONVENTIONS…..

The surge and excitement over Obama will continue. Hillary will run amuck all the way to the convention.Edward’s is holding onto his delegates. McCain will undoubtedly have picked his cabinet and cohorts in government and Huckabee will have stayed the course possibly vainly hoping and holding out for the veep position. Then again, Romney has his delegates still in his pocket….Convention time should be quite a show from all sides!!!

INSIDE THE POWER CIRCLE…

The real stories will never be made public…as usual. The behind the scene groupings of politic power that wheel and deal to make the decisions for the general electorate. What was said to make so-in-so the vice presidential candidates. The slick manuvers and strange ritual dances to position the chosen ones into electable candidates. The collaborative dream teams for the democrats and republicans….

More times than not, I feel like a citizen puppet whose strings are being pulled to and fro…

WHAT IS THE CHANGE…?

Change seems to be the watch cry of all parties this year but 2008 still has a long traditional past that is not likely going to be put through that process of change. It is called power and the ability to manipulate decisions and public opinion. Changing the appearance of government every 4 to 8 years just creates the same-ole…behind the scenes.

Look beyond the celebrity- candidates and see the powers that operate the govenmental steamroller..now that would be a story worth telling…

Anyone have the guts to try…?

Change is the constant in 2008- Politics

Nana on Feb 7th 2008 02:27 pm

Another republican candidate has bowed out leaving the chosen one as John McCain. Now is the time for this man to attempt to unite a fractured party. Judging by his iffy track record unification may take a long time convincing conservative Reaganites to join and heal the splintered party. Seems to me that that accomplishment only may take alot of needed time away from the fight against the opposition…like the democrats.

WHO’S THE VEEP..?

Would it be possible that McCain bites the bullet and asks Romney to become his veep…thereby making a united front in the easiest and fastest “moment of truth” possible…? There appears to be some real principle differences among the republicans. Can a Romney joining the republican ticket as veep mend the great divide…? Or has the bitter swiping and stabs created too many seeping wounds..?

GOING INDEPENDENT..?

Then again, Romney could possibly go independent and take his conservative message to the general public. Doubtful of this choice, I think Romney will not abandon the conservative republican cause. He is a strong, principled man..whose stance appears to be cast in stone..but we shall see.

DEFINING MOMENTS…

With all his money invested he has at least made his name well known and his position clear. Perhaps, his goal is to become a major voice within the party and in 2012 come forward with a wider base and a more defined personality that can capture the heart of John Q. Voter. After all there is another day…

CLINTON AND OBAMA…?

As for the democrats, it is my belief they will unite the tickets with the junior senators of Clinton and Obama. After all, who can resist the first woman, first man of color approach. History in the making..and as long as the liberal democratic values are intact, then why not…?

Well..it is all an interesting scenario….but tomorrow is another day…

Who can foresee the future..? Let that person come forward and make him/herself rich!!

Stupid Tuesday..what was the cost..?

Nana on Feb 6th 2008 11:06 am

Well…Super Tuesday has come and gone. What did it prove..?  What did it cost…? Once again, I tout the need for election reform! Could we not have put  all the monies spent to better use..?…..

SAME-OLE…

Basically things are not much different than they were Monday, Feb 3rd. It’s still Clinton- Obama give or take a few delegates. Unless these 2 unite as a combined ticket for the democrats…the road to the nomination will be long and dirty.

The republicans are no better either…just a shift in running positions. McCain leading and sounding more like a shew-in, done deal. Huckabee and Romney unwilling to give up their cause. Perhaps the news here will be who  becomes the chosen veep…perhaps that has already been decided.

WHAT DOES IT PROVE..?

Seems to me that the general public is seeking something more than is being offered. Nothing wrong in that… these are hard times globally, nationally and hard times are happening to everyone right in their own wallets.

REFORM…

I repeat there is need for election reforms..too much is being spent with too little results. I can think of so many ways these monies could be spent for the positive good. Too bad just a minor percentage raised by the candidates could have been filtered to a better cause like children of hunger, cancer or care for the elderly.

We are talking about mega money amounts here…sports figures are being paid too much, corporate CEO’s are paid too much, movie celebraties are over compensated and the list does goes on. Money flows and it goes….

Aren’t you interested in what the cost of Stupid Tuesday was?

If not, pull you head out of the sand and smell your taxes!!

Super Tuesday…Politics

Nana on Feb 5th 2008 09:22 am

How many are wondering why Mike Huckabee is still in the race for president..? He had his 15 minutes of fame and is now a recognized face beyond the evangelical crowds…but why the staying in the race when he is obviously in third place among the republicans..?

A DIVIDED PARTY….

Dare say I suggest that the McCain machine wishes him to be up front and visible so he split the evangelical vote between himself and Romney? Wouldn’t it be ironic that the back room wheeling and dealings involved promises to Huckabee for some future position..? Not too far fetched here…I don’t like the way this game is being played.

A REAL CONSERVATIVE..?

McCain, surely a war hero, knows Washington well. He also knows how to position and advertise himself as a conservative. That might take considerable thought…it might behoove many to check his record. I am not buying all he claims in his TV ads. His mother sure has had some things to say. More power to her, as a senior citizen she should let it all hang out but not necessarily on national TV. He laughs her remarks off as a dutiful son but as a president I would expect that he show some decorum and saddle the wagging tongues.

SUPER TUESDAY…

Super Tuesday promises to be a horse race between Clinton and Obama. Backed by the Kennedy machine and endorsed by many puts acceptibility in front of the general voters. There is no doubt that he presents himself in a charismatic way…he seems to light the fire under John Q. Voter. And the voting public is seeking something different and hopeful. On the other hand, these candidates know well how to pander to the wants of the general public…

NEEDED REFORMS…

I, for one, would like to see some election reforms that regulate the flow of monies and makes the playing fields more accessible to candidates from all walks of life..occupations..experiences….and motivations. The label “Politican” should be better defined with a more positive moniker.

A CONTINUOUS CHANGE…

The American political process has always been open to the change that has been so publically touted during this election. The one thing constant in life is change…. it just it’s not been coming fast enough in some areas of American life…

The old ways are not necessarily the best ways…..

Politics..behind the scenes…

Nana on Jan 30th 2008 10:17 am

Well…some big political moves going on…have you ever wanted to go behind the scenes of the private political arena and see what really is being discussed and decided..? I would imagine those back door corridors have been filled with lively talk, negotiations and compromise. Wheeling and dealing amongst the party kingpins would have made a more interesting TV drama than the predictable coverage from the liberal media….

THE DEMOCRATS…

We have “Billary” politics plowing through the democratic strong hold with the usual “I was president, hear me roar” babble…Obama selling out to the Kennedy dynasty gathering all the endorsements he can to enlarge his virgin resume and Edwards bowing out to whatever compromise he accepted to make the democrats have a sure-win ticket. Would I dare suggest a Clinton/Obama ticket….first lady….first man of color team 2008…? Would the democrats be so bold to construct a sure thing..? Hummmm….

THE REPUBLICANS….

The republicans seem to be scattering to manipulate a ticket that can rival the democratic dynamic duo. The media seems to acknowledge that McCain is the man to lead the charge. McCain is questionable at best…he doesn’t have the desire to go for the jugular as Hillary nor does he have the charisma of an Obama. For the convervative republicans McCain is somewhat of a traitor, although a genuine war hero, for his stance on certain key issues that have labeled him a liberal/ moderate. His governmental experience tends to put him with the old Washington crowd types. Isn’t he pushing 70..?

Now that Guiliani has bowed out of the race..would you have liked to hear the conversations between the McCain and Guiliani camps..? Would you suppose a McCain/ Guiliani tickets may be in the offering…? What compromises were had with Crist and his gang in Florida. Oh… to be a fly on the wall!

You know folks…we are speaking of the primaries here. What are we to suspect when the candidates have been decided and the big race is on for real..?

Like I said before…where is 2009? Oh hummm….politics as usual.

Ever feel manipulated…?
